Ever since I met Mandi+Andrew at a Wisp event, I knew we would get along wonderfully! At one of our first meetings, I sat with Mandi and her sister (Katie) for about three hours chatting about life and the upcoming wedding day. Mostly about life though.

Mandi+Andrew’s wedding day was an amazing reminder of why I love photography. I always want to capture weddings with intent. This wedding meant a lot to me. They all do of course, but I knew what they all had been through, so I put a little more pressure on myself to capture it the best way possible.

You see, Andrew’s amazing mom passed away soon after my dad did. I knew she was battling cancer for a long time and I always told Mandi+Andrew if they needed me last minute to photograph anything for them, I would be there. I know, at one point, they weren’t sure they wanted to continue with the big wedding, but they knew his mom would want them to have the day they dreamed of all along.

There were so many moments in the day when I didn’t know if I could hold in my tears, and you know, I didn’t hold them in too well. During the reception, when Andrew was dancing with his sister, I was a big mess behind my camera. Later in the evening, a guest came up to me and told me how they were trying to not cry during the dance. But the moment they saw me crying, they couldn’t hold their tears in anymore. It was emotional, but I am so thankful to be able to document it all.

Thank you so much, Mandi+Andrew, for having us there on your wedding day. I know how difficult it is to lose someone you love so much. We want you to see how much love was there during your wedding. You have an amazing family and friends.

When Mandi was getting ready, she opened a note from Andrew and saw that he gave her his mom’s ring.

First looks are some of my favorite moments on wedding days.

Oh. My. Goodness. These kids are so adorable!!   During the song, which was Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran, they asked everyone else to come on the dance floor to join them. I have never seen such an emotional dance. Everyone was so loving and crying together. It was so moving.  Afterwards, they opened the dance floor for some more dancing. The kids were the first to join.

A little Vanilla Ice Ice Ice Baby action going on below.

We are so happy for you both! Thank you so much for having us there on your amazing day! We know your future together will be beautiful!
