WANDERLUST: ALASKA

Over the summer, we were able to visit Jake’s mom and stepdad in Alaska. It’s been a while since we traveled there (2008). I don’t know if you know this, but it takes forever to get there. Well, maybe not forever, but a pretty decent time.

Here is a recap of the first time we visited. It was in summer, during a 3-week-van trip from Denver to Glacier National Park to Calgary to Banff to Jasper to Whitehorse. From there, we went across the Alaskan Highway to Fairbanks, to Denali and ended up in Wasilla and Anchorage. It was a whirlwind, but it was AMAZING.

This trip was a tad easier and with less camping, mosquitoes and coffee. We flew to Seattle and visited Jake’s sister and her family. So the flight from Seattle to Anchorage was much easier, yet still long. Our girls were so excited, since this was their first time visiting Alaska.

We were able to hang out at Matanuska Glacier, Hatcher’s Pass, in Wasilla and Anchorage. We went to a couple festivals with the girls. It was rainy a bunch, but we loved how light it was outside, even late into the evening. We saw a couple of moose and tons of their state birds (aka the mosquito). ;) We had so much fun!
