12 THINGS TO DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY AWESOME

When you think about how you want your day to be, what are some of the first things you think about? The cool thing is that you can do whatever you want and we can help you make your day the exact day you want it to be. There are so many options and here are just 12 of our ideas that can help your day be memorable.

1. Have a champagne toast

Champagne toasts are a great way to celebrate your day! Even if you don’t like to drink it, it’s always fun for photos too. A tip…give it a little shake before you try to pop it!

2. Hike to an amazing spot

Hiking to a gorgeous spot is always worth it. You can hike to a favorite spot or pick somewhere new. You can wear your wedding attire or change when you get to the epic spot.

You definitely have to prepare for this though and there are things you should bring and wear to make sure your hike is fun. Some things you might need:

  • water
  • snacks
  • hiking boots/snow boots
  • extra socks/shoes (if they get wet/muddy)
  • gloves/scarves/hand warmers (for cold weather)
  • rain/snow jackets (the weather can change pretty fast in the mtns)
  • headlamps for night/early morning hikes
  • thermals for under your dressy clothes

3. Choose an outdoor activity to do together before or after

The options are pretty endless when you are eloping or having an intimate wedding and you can do WHATEVER you want. The cool thing is when you select a more recreational area, there will be lots more to do.

Here are some fun ideas:

  • Go kayaking
  • Go canoeing
  • Go SUPing
  • Have a yoga/workout in the morning
  • Go on a Jeep tour
  • Go whitewater rafting
  • Take a helicopter tour
  • Go skydiving
  • Go rock climbing

4. Get ready together

You might think, hey, that’s different. But honestly, it’s pretty sweet. You don’t have to be nervous and can chill with each other before the ceremony. You can get ready together and still have a first look once you are both ready too. It’s completely up to you!

5. Have a first look (even if you are getting ready together)

First looks are always worth it. They are always so touching and always help with the rest of the day. You don’t have to worry about not seeing each other and can take everything in together. It’s the best of both worlds.

6. Share vows with each other

Vows are so intimate and meaningful. We know it’s probably nerve-wracking to actually say all the things you want to say to each other in front of others, but it’s such a great way to show your significant other HOW much you love them. It makes for some amazing photos too!

7. Bring in a chef to cook for you two

You can chat with a chef to make an epic meal for you. Let them know the kind of food you like and they will be able to create something amazing. We have seen so many dinners, created by amazing chefs over the years and when you have a smaller, more intimate wedding or elopement, you have a lot more options for the food you can have. They can suggest wine/drinks that go with the dinner. Most can also help with desserts, which is awesome!

8. Rent an airbnb/vacation home/cabin at a cool place

When you have somewhere comfy and cool to stay at, it makes all the difference. Hot tubs and campfires are so much fun to hang around with each other too. We even love some of the treehouses and glamping locations too. We can help suggest some to you if you need any help with it.

9. Include some of your closest family+friends

When you think about who you want there for your day, who is on that list? We always wish we would have had a smaller wedding with just our close family+friends to make it a lot more intimate. You don’t have to invite anyone at all either, because it’s your day to do whatever you want.

10. Take a helicopter tour or hike to a glacier.

We love glaciers and have landed on one before in Alaska and and also hiked out to one, which was pretty amazing! It’s such a neat thing to do and some glaciers allow you to have a ceremony on them and also do tours. Just be sure to wear those crampons/spikes. It’s slippery!

11. Chill by a campfire

Hanging out by a campfire at the end of the night is one of the funnest things to do. You can grab some s’mores, drinks, snacks and just chill together and take in everything together. It’s also fun to hang out with friends+family by the fire on your day if you want. Everyone enjoys it as long as they stay warm.

12. Take some night photos together

Night photos by the fire or with the stars/moon and some sparklers can be so much fun. It’s a great way to end the night for photography and end with a bang (so to speak). Definitely leave a little time if you want some photos at the end of the day.
